I am not certain the date of this painting but would guess mid-to-late 19th century

his looking like the feather end of an arrow while hers looks rather like a rain cloud

I think this was most likely part of a singing bird cage or cuckoo clock or something similar

No message at all on reverse but addressed simply to Oval Thurston of Fountain City (Indiana) and postmarked Dec, 23, 1909 with a nice flag cancellation.
